My Friend, Mr. Moon from "Open Box"

Each night before I go to sleep
Out my window, I do peek
To gaze at the starlit sky
While watching the moon go by
As he gives me a wink of the eye
My friend, Mr. Moon

The moon goes through many faces
Shines on a variety of places
As over the earth and sky, he races
His mighty work he embraces,
My friend

He bids the day adieu
Ushers in the light anew
Welcomes the rising dawn
Awakens the birds to song
Then pauses before moving on

I say to all of you
He can be your friend too
Look into the darkening sky
And salute as he goes by
